100 electric buses are being added to the City Transport fleet
100 new electric buses will be added to the fleet of Dhaka city transport within this year, said the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas.
After the 27th meeting of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee on Tuesday (May 9), the DSCC Mayor and President of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapos conveyed this information while exchanging views with journalists at The Buriganga Hall of Nagar Bhaban- the head office of DSCC.

You will be happy to know that within this year we will connect 100 electric buses to Dhaka city transport through BRTC. Through this, we can take Dhaka forward as an environment-friendly city. We can move forward from air pollution, we can be free from air pollution.”
The DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Tapas said, "We have taken a strict decision in this regard" in response to a question from journalists about the various irregularities of Trans-Silva Transportation on route 21 which was launched on an experimental basis. Trans Silva failed on route 21. So, this entire route will now be operated by BRTC. BRTC has expressed interest in taking it up. For this, we are canceling all permission of Trans-Silva. We have decided — all the buses they had in Dhaka Nagar Paribahan (City Transport), which were sanctioned will be seized. So Route 21 and Route 26 will be operated by BRTC.”
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, "Our plan was to make 9 clusters with 6 urban clusters and 3 sub-urban clusters. First we are working with green cluster. Where I master planned 21 to 28 with a total of 8 routes. According to his plan, we included 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and today 27 and 28 in total 8 routes. It was decided in today's meeting. Tenders will be invited for opening Route No. 27 and 28. One takeaway from today's meeting. We are making good progress in bringing the total green cluster under one company.”
In response to a question from reporters about the suspension of the buses without fitness, the mayor of North City also said, 'The number of non-fitness vehicles is decreasing day by day. We are trying to reduce this number. It was decided in today's meeting to conduct an operation against these buses.
